Give yourself or someone you care about a safer walk at night! According to the CDC, pedestrian deaths from vehicles have increased 80% since its low point in 2009. Its not your imagination: The streets have become more hostile to people sharing them with cars.

My quest to help people get home safely at night started as a University Police student worker tasked with waking people home at night. As I graduated to a full time career employee of the University Police Department, I witnessed first hand and assisted injured people seeking medical help, and thought hard about ways I can contribute to public safety by reducing accidents. One of my ideas I am most excited about is increasing pedestrian visibility at night, in a way that is easily usable and easily gift-able, and thus decided to create reflectobutton. My team’s vision is to see reflectobutton pin-back badges on joggers jackets, children’s backpacks, bikers sleeves, party goers pants, and business persons briefcases… basically turning dark shadows into brightly colored dots.
